Tidy Tuesdays

Organization is something I'm passionate about.  I know that sounds super nerdy, but in my life being organized is essential.   Why you ask?  Well something you may not know about me is that I am diagnosed ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) so with that comes a life of chaos.  Growing up I would often lose or misplace things, so having a specific place for everything helped me stay focused and be able to access what I needed.   Now that I'm an adult, organizing has turned into something I love to do so I thought I'd share a tip with you guys each Tuesday (Tidy Tuesdays) that I use in my own life to keep things organized.  Hopefully this Tidy Tuesday thing will turn into a weekly post...unless of course my ADHD kicks in and I forget to.  With that being said, my tidy tip for this week is:

Keep a folder in your car for Restaurant Coupons.

We all get those little flyers in the mail with restaurant coupons but often times they get lost, thrown away, or they expire because we forget all about them.  Something I've done that not only helps me keep track of my restaurant coupons but helps me save money is to put them inside a folder in my car so I have them when I'm out to eat.  All you need is a standard 3-ring binder (or 3-prong folder) and some clear sheet protectors.  Put the sheet protectors inside the rings of the binder and slide your coupons into the sheet protectors.  If you want to get really fancy and specific, you can put your coupons in alphabetical order or group them by food category (ie: Italian, Mexican, Fast Food, Breakfast, etc).  I typically just slide my coupons into a vacant sheet protector.  To keep my folder from getting cluttered, I go through it once a month and pull out the expired coupons and throw them away.  Here's what my folder looks like:

The front cover

The inside pocket
(This holds my "Enjoy the City" coupon book)

Sheet protectors with coupons inside

Well, that officially wraps up my very first "Tidy Tuesday" tip from Cashing in on Life!    What are some categories you'd like tips on in regards to organizing?  Comment below and let me know!

Have a terrific, tidy Tuesday friends!

Weight Watchers Update

Yesterday marked the end of week 4 on Weight watchers and I'm proud to report that I've officially lost 11 pounds!!!!  I'm sure the stomach virus I had a few weeks ago helped out with some of that, haha, but I'm hoping for continued success so I can hit my 40 pound goal.  Then we all know what that means...a new COACH PURSE!!!  Read more about that here

I've still not gotten into a regular work-out routine BUT I have been watching Biggest Loser...that has to count for something, right?   Stephen and I are going to join the community recreation center that's opening down the street from us in March but until they open I will be working out from home, so I found some helpful links on pinterest that I pinned to my fitness board.  My main trouble area is my tummy so feel free to share some belly busting moves with me if you have any!  Here are a few of the workouts I found online if you're interested:

Have a marvelous week my beautiful friends!

Under the Weather

After a brief blogging hiatus....I'M BACK!!!!!!!   Last week I had a terrible stomach virus and I  felt like I'd been run over by a Mack truck.  I'm happy to report that I'm feeling much better now and I'm back in action on the blogging scene!  Last week was rough but this weekend managed to make up for it as we celebrated the hubby's birthday!  He is officially 24 years young.  Here's some pictures from our weekend:

Stephen's yummy lemon Birthday Cake from Edgar's!

The celebrating got out of hand at Jalapenos

We couldn't leave our baby girl Clancy out of the celebrating, so we finished off the birthday festivities with a joy ride...

Can't wait to celebrate many more birthdays together with this guy!  Love him!
Hope you took some time to Cash in on some quality time with your loved ones this weekend too!

Typographic Verses

During my normal daily Pinterest perusing I found some adorable typographic Bible verses (and verses from hymns and worship songs) through a couple of different websites and flickr pages.  I think it's important to incorporate scripture into your daily life as well as into your home, so I thought I'd share with you a few of the verses I found.  I'm trying decide which ones I want to print out and frame for Cashablanca.  Who am I kidding, I'll probably end up printing them all.

Hope these encourage and inspire you!  Happy Friday friends!!!!!

New Hardwood Floors!

This weekend Cashablanca's living room got a mini-makeover!  On Saturday Stephen and his father started ripping up carpet and installing a beautiful cherry colored hardwood.   Since our house in on a slab, we went with a floating floor that snaps in.  Our budget is pretty tight, so we only had enough money to install them in the living room and hallway since those are the two areas that get the highest amount of traffic in our home. After three days of hard work, sweat, and frustration the floors are finally installed!

I'm so pleased with the way they turned out!  A HUGE thank you to Stephen and his dad for all of their hard work!  So excited about our snazzy new set up!

Weight Watchers Week 1 Update

As you probably already know, one of my goals for 2013 is to lose 40 pounds.  I know that seems kinda ridiculous but I set that goal for myself so that I could get into a healthy weight range.  To help me do so I've been using the Weight Watchers Points Plus System.  I am happy to report that as of Sunday I have lost 5 lbs on week 1 of WW!  Wooo hooo!!!!  Week one wasn't a walk in the park, I had cravings like crazy, but luckily I didn't feel deprived and stuck to my points without going over each day.  They give you an extra 49 "flex points" each week in case you do go over your points allotment or in case you need them for a special occassion (Birthday, outing, etc) but I've noticed that you don't lose as much weight when you use those additional weekly points.   You can also earn extra points by exercising each day but I haven't yet incorporated a weekly exercise regimen into my diet.  However, I did work out one day last week (pitiful, I know).  My goal is to work out at least twice a week if not more.   If you're looking to lose weight and want some healthy snack ideas, I've put together a list of my favorite guilt free snacks below...

1. Thomas 100 Calorie Bagel Thins -These are a breakfast favorite!  They come in a ton of different varieties but what we eat the most of are the 100 percent whole wheat and the everything bagel thins.  I like to spread a little Weight Watchers whipped cream cheese on them, which brings me to my next snack...

2. Weight Watchers Whipped Cream Cheese Spread-  This stuff is great for bagels or even toast.  I like to put mine on the bagel thin then top it with sliced banana or another fruit such as blueberries.  Walmart carries several of these spreads along with lots of other Weight Watchers brand snacks.

3.  Laughing Cow Cheese- These also come in a variety of flavors and are only 35 calories for one wedge!

4. Fiber One 90 calorie brownies- These are great for when I have a sweet tooth!

5. Healthy Choice Frozen Greek Yogurt- These are also great for a sweet tooth and they have lots of protein so they leave you feeling satisfied.  I've tried the vanilla bean, blueberry and strawberry.  Vanilla bean is Mine and Stephen's favorite but they all taste great!  Did I mention they are only 100 calories?  SCORE!

6. Fresh Fruit- Fruit is zero points on Weight Watchers so we've been eating a lot of this at the Cash house lately!

7. Pop Chips (Salt & Vinegar)-  I'm a junk food junkie and Salt & Vinegar chips are my weakness!  If you want all the flavor with half the fat, these are a delicious option!

8. Simply 7 Sea Salt Hummus Chips- I saw these at TJ Maxx last weekend and thought I'd give them a try, and let me tell you...I could eat my weight in these!  SO YUMMY!  You can also pick these up at your local Whole Foods, but TJ Maxx sometimes carries them and at a lower price.

9. Quaker White Cheddar Rice Cakes- Another satisfying snack if you're a potato chip lover and in search of a healthier alternative.  I've also tried the Publix brand white cheddar rice cakes because they were cheaper but the flavor was not nearly as good to me.  And the best part about this is, they are only 1 point a piece!  Spread a little Laughing Cow cheese on it for more flavor and call it a day!

10. Wholly Guacamole 100 Calorie Packs- I could eat Mexican food everyday and my lack of self-control is obviously what got me into this position in the first place.  But these are low in carbs, high in Fiber, and yummy to my tummy!  Definitely worth the 3 point value!

Now I'm just making myself hungry.  Back to the water bottle I go!!!!  Happy dieting friends!

And the award goes to...

This weekend I received the Liebster Award from my friend Lara Ellen over at Living Like LaLa!  This award given to new bloggers who are trying to get their name out there in the blogger world.  I was unaware that there were awards out there for bloggers so I think this is super fun.  If you're wondering what this Liebster business is all about, here are the rules:

1. Each blogger should post 11 random facts about themselves.
2. Answer the questions the tagger has set for you, then create 11 new questions for the bloggers you pass the award to.
3. Choose 11 new bloggers (with less than 200 followers) to pass the award to and link them in your post.
4. Go back to their page and tell them about the award.
5. No tag backs.
