Laundry Cap Snowman

With Christmas right around the corner I've been in a holiday crafting mood.   This weekend I put my glue gun to work and made this little guy for our tree.  It's a seriously easy craft and you can even have your kids join in on the fun.

  Here's what you'll need:
  • Laundry detergent cap
  • Styrofoam ball
  • Hot glue gun
  • Black sequins
  • Various colored gemstones
  • Jute or ribbon of your choice
  • Electric screwdriver
  • Small screw eye hook

Step 1: Taking your laundry cap and styrofoam ball, push the mouth of the cap into the styrofoam ball until the edges no longer show.  For extra hold, line the outside edge of the laundry cap with a little hot glue then push it into the styrofoam.

Step 2: Using your gemstones, hot glue eyes and a nose of your color choice. I used blue gemstones for the eyes and an orange one for the nose.  (Warning: very hot glue will melt the styrofoam ball a bit; my advice is to use a low temp glue gun).

Step 3: Hot glue your black sequins in the shape of a mouth onto the snowman's face.

Step 4: Using an electric screw driver or drill, drill a small hole into the snoman's hat then screw in the hook.

**CAUTION...make sure the hole isn't too big or the hook will not stay in.  Some screw eye hooks may be sharp enough to just screw straight in the top of the hat without needing to use a drill or screw driver.*

Step 5: Tie your ribbon or jute around the outside rim of the snowman's "hat".  You may also want to add your own embellishments such as holly, flowers or a small snow flake to the hat.  Just use your creative imagination!

And here he is!  All that's left to do is hang him on our tree!
